Kaiser Convention Center Arena, Oakland Bring the whole family for a delightful day of free performances, contests, demonstrations and entertainment by Oakland Youth Chorus, Skyline High School Jazz Combo, Great Wall Orchestra (Chinese instruments), emcee Dick Bright, Tim Cain and others. Learn about music schools and camps, musical instruments, local choirs and orchestras, music teachers, and more. At 2pm, in the Calvin Simmons Theatre (adjacent to Convention Center), Maestro Michael Morgan leads members of the Oakland East Bay Symphony, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir and Great Wall Orchestra in a special Family Concert. YOUNG CONCERT ARTISTS, Inc YOUNG CONCERT ARTISTS, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1961 by Susan Wadsworth, dedicated to discovering and launching the careers of extraordinary young musicians. The artists are chosen through the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, which are unique in that there are no rankings and any number of winners, or none,can be selected. The sole criteria are musicianship, virtuosity, communicative power, and readiness for a concert career.
