Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS, pronounced GITseez) was created in 1972 when leaders of Minnesota's arts and philanthropic community joined to create a new organization with the resources to offer what none of the four then-existing youth orchestras could do alone. With the support from representatives of the Minnesota Orchestra, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the University of Minnesota, and grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and The Bush Foundation, GTCYS was established to provide an exemplary orchestral experience for young musicians.
