Apostle Islands National Lakeshore These 21 forested islands and 12 miles of mainland Lake Superior shoreline feature pristine stretches of sand beach, spectacular sea caves, remnant old-growth forests, resident bald eagles and black bears, and the largest collection of lighthouses anywhere in the National Park System. St. Croix National Scenic Riverway The St. Croix National Scenic Riverway is a 252 mile long corridor which consists of the St. Croix and Namekagon rivers. The Riverway is one of the initial rivers designated under the Wild and Scenic Rivers act of 1968. The Lower St. Croix was added in 1972. The Riverway is a unique area with a diversity of habitat, which provides many opportunities for viewing wildlife. A variety of recreational activities can be enjoyed in this picturesque setting.
