KinderStart Press Releases
KinderStart is the largest (and most popular) indexed directory and search engine focused on children zero to seven on the ‘net.

The mission of our small but dedicated staff is to provide parents, grandparents, foster parents and teachers the with the most organized, and easiest to use index and search engine available.

Finding information specifically related to the care of young children on the ‘net can be a daunting process. Broad Search Engines are fine, but not specifically focused on resources for young children, therefore surfers often do not find resources which would be useful in their care of young children.

KinderStart makes finding these resources easy-hence it’s utility.

Over time, KinderStart has added resources for teachers of young children and even young users.

Our team of indexers drew upon other early childhood and media experts under the direction of Sara Lewis, an early childhood expert and with an acclaimed media background. We continue to draw on others in the field to enhance and grow the index.

The KinderStart Project began in May of 2000, with funding from a group of private investors with a long vision.

The unique KinderStart Design and Graphics were contributed by one of the KinderStart Partners, the Ayzenberg Group (link to http://www.ayzenberg.com) whose client list includes Disney, Microsoft and others.

KinderStart utilizes original code in running on the Linux (GNU) Operating System. Programming Languages used include PERL, PHP with PostgresSQL as the database. Additional functionality includes modified and unmodified Open Source Code.

The KinderStart Project began without massive dot com funding, and owes a debt of gratitude to the work of the open source community, as without their fine work this project would not have been possible. We would like to express an additional debt of gratitude to the education and early childhood communities as well as the many vendors who have continued to support and promote KinderStart throughout the years.
